Miracles now a farce!

The hoopla and hysteria over the 'sweet' waters of the ocean hadnt died down when now we get to see this:

'Milk Miracle' - The devotees queued outside temples in Mathura, Vrindavan and Govardhan in UP, Vadodara in Gujarat and Kurukshetra in Haryana and Ludhiana in Punjab to offer milk to idols of Durgama and Lord Shiva.

A similar miracle had been witnesed in the past with reports from across the country that idols of Lord Ganesh were consuming milk on September 21, 1995.

Instead of trying to dispel these myths our t.v. channels with their quickfire "breaking news reports" seem to fuel the fire even more!

In an age when we talk of India Vision, India developed by 2020 we are still stuck in the same mindset.

Rushing to the sea to drink pollutant, chemical, sewer waste infested water as 'miracle' is to be narrow minded in the most extreme. Not only do we people seem to abandon our scientific curiosity but also fall victims to rumours and myths.

The result of all this will be in tomorrow's newspapers. As if todays Sunday editorials were not enough we will have another ton of wasted space followed by even more analysis.

Indian scientific temper is really lying in dolldrums...

Imagining things that are not there, looking for signs and pictures in fruits, vegetables are things which bring into sharp focus the failure of our national policy on developing a scientif temper and educating people. With even educated people thronging to these sites, it is hopeless to expect uneducated folks to act otherwise.
